That tourists and foreigners like eating Italian food is not in doubt. But what are the traditional dishes most loved by Italians? We did a survey and found even more than five and came up with our final ranking. There are dishes that have made history such as pesto alla genovese, bistecca alla fiorentina, cacio e pepe, ribollita, risotto alla milanese. Some delicacies are now famous, reproduced and sought after all over the world such as tortellini, parmigiana, meatballs with sauce, amatriciana.

But what does an Italian choose in Italy? Summarising so much goodness in just five dishes was not easy:
