    Limoncello recipe

Want to try making limoncello at home? It’s not that difficult! Here is the recipe for making an excellent limoncello at home:

For 1.5 litres of Limoncello you need:

        • 10 medium-sized untreated Sorrento lemons

        • 1 litre of 90° alcohol

        • 400 g of sugar

        • half a litre of water

      Preparation:

      1. Wash the lemons in hot water. Cut the zest very thin and place it on a cutting board, reducing it to small strips. Collect the lemon strips in a hermetically sealed glass jar and pour in the whole litre of alcohol, close and leave to infuse for 15 days.
      2. After 15 days, prepare the sugar-water syrup. Pour sugar and water into a saucepan and heat over low heat. Switch off and leave to cool to room temperature.
      3. Add the syrup to the infused alcohol, stirring well. Take a second container and transfer all the liquor into it, filtering it through a funnel lined with gauze or filter paper.
      4. Repeat the operation in reverse a second time, squeezing the lemon peels well. Finally, still using the filter funnel, fill the bottles, close them and place them to rest in a dry cupboard.
