Narrative label
Characteristics
Arabica is a coffee rich in aroma, very fragrant, sweet and slightly acidic, with a caffeine content ranging from 0.8% to 1.5%. Arabica plants thrive in soils located between 1000 and 2000 meters high: the higher the plant grows, the better the organoleptic qualities of the beans.
Farmers
Our Arabica Coffee is organic and Fairtrade and is produced by Norandino Cooperative in Peru and Prodecoop in Nicaragua. Our nearly 6000 producers from 171 associations and co-op members of Norandino in Peru are committed daily to cultivating and transforming agricultural products respecting the principles of quality and purity of the productions. They democratically promote social and environmental sustainability in their communities in the northern area of Peru - in the regions of Piura, Tumbes, Amazonas, Cajamarca, Lambayeque, and San Martín.
Cultivation
Our Arabica coffee grows at variable heights between 1250 and 1800 meters, at temperatures ranging from 20 to 25 degrees. Cultivation takes place in the shade of other fruit or timber plants that help reduce water evaporation, soil erosion, and protect the plantation from the sun, as well as being essential for biodiversity protection and providing sun protection to the farmer on harvest days.
Harvest and processing
The ripe fruit harvest (called cherry) takes place during the dry and less rainy periods of the year. The cherries contain two paired beans, wrapped in a protective membrane (the parchment). Our coffee is processed through the wet method, which guarantees quality and excellence, avoiding the need for subsequent defect corrections in most cases. The green coffee is then dried, slowly roasted, air-cooled, and ground, in order to achieve an absolute balance in the cup capable of enhancing its aromas.
